About me

I’ve been an English Teacher for more than 30 years, although I prefer to think of myself as an educator, which is a totally different story.

I've been inside schools in different positions for as long as I can remember. Last 20 as Head or Coordinator in private schools in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina.

Back in 2007 I was working at a bilingual school in Pilar. I had been responsible for the English Department (KG - 12) for 7 years when the school decided to implement a 1 to 1 programme (1student / 1 notebook / 1 IWB).  The school's digital plan fascinated me from scratch, I could see this could be the answer to many of my discomforts related to education.

The first year ran in a whirl, so much to learn! At the start it meant putting out fires every few seconds: poor connections, stalled notebooks where common those days. In the second term, we could begin to see some results and start to enjoy the process. I remember I would walk past the classrooms, look inside and see kids and teachers working. How amazing was this in 2008?

From the very first day I received the news we were going digital, I felt Professional Development was the key element. Teachers needed to feel at ease with technology if they were to make the best use in the class. The bad news was, the necessary time for this was not at hand.

In November 2009 I decided to resign from my position and start working in that direction, helping teachers integrate technology into their daily work. I could give a hand in this, we had had the experience a "little earlier" and knew what it meant to leave aside "comfort zones" to take a whole new road.

A number of years ago I opened this blog to share my disorganized experience, this gave me the chance to reach out, communicate, share, meet so many fantastic people. I even had the chance to meet some personally and feel I have friends all over the world.

IMPORTANT NOTE: this was me in 2010. Today, August 2020 very little has changed regarding my ideas about technology in the classroom, Professional Development IS a PENDING ASSIGNMENT.

On a different note, I've moved all the way from Buenos Aires to Cartagena, in the south of sunny Spain.

That is some change!
